Contradictions in FG health proposals need to be clarified
Deputy Niall Blaney, TD, member of the Oireachtas Health Committee has called on Gael leader Enda Kenny to clarify the contradictions which would now undermine further his party’s proposals on healthcare. 22/03/10“In his speech in Killarney on Saturday evening, Deputy Kenny was outlining his party’s Faircare proposals and claimed that the Dutch system actually spend less per capita on their health service than the Irish.”
“It now transpires that Deputy Kenny is either mistaken on this fact or else needs to update the data that they have been using to date.”
“I understand that the Dutch have consistently had a higher cost per person for health than Ireland, and the latest statistics from the OECD show that in black and white. The OECD figures are used for all true international comparisons."
"Most ironic of all is that on their website setting out their plans, Deputy Kenny is quoted saying that the Dutch health system costs more per person."
“It is now important that Deputy Kenny and Fine Gael clarify the glaring contradictions in these policy proposals.”
