The National Solidarity Bond will be available to purchase from May 4th, according to local Fianna Fáil TD Niall Blaney. 30/04/2010The Bond represents a safe opportunity for people in invest sums from €500 to €250,000, he said.
“The National Solidarity Bond was announced by the Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan TD in the Budget last December and it will be available to purchase from post offices from May 4th.”
“The Bond is a national savings product. People can invest sums of between €500 and €250,000 which will be used by the State to help stimulate economic recovery through investment in capital projects around the country.”
“While the minimum investment amount it €500, people can make regular savings of €25 which will be automatically invested in the Bond when it accumulates to €500.”
“In this way people can invest money with the guarantee of a safe and healthy return, while at the same time helping to support the economy and to create jobs around the country.”
“The Bond will be managed by the National Treasury Management Agency and will provide a return on investment of 50 per cent gross over 10 years. After tax the net return will still be a very rewarding 47.5 per cent.”
“The longer a person leaves their money invested in the Bond, the better the return will be. There are no fees, charges or sales commission attached and investors can have their money back at any time without penalty.”
The return percentages are as follows:
At the end of 5 years you will earn 15 per cent gross.
At the end of 7 years you will earn 29 per cent gross.
At the end of 10 years you will earn 50 per cent gross .
“This is an innovative way for the Government to raise funds to invest in stimulating the economy, while at the same time providing a safe investment opportunity for ordinary people,” concluded Niall Blaney TD.
