Niall ‘the Annihilator’ Blaney looks for the ref’s vote in charity boxing match
Niall Blaney TD will be hoping to get the ref’s vote this Friday when he gets in the ring to compete in a White Collar charity boxing match in Letterkenny to raise money for the Friends of Letterkenny Hospital and Letterkenny Rugby Club. 18/05/10The Donegal North East Fianna Fáil TD has donned the moniker Niall ‘the Annihilator’ Blaney for the competition, which will take place in Mount Errigal Hotel in Letterkenny this Friday night at 8pm.
He has been training for the event three days a week for the past six weeks and is fighting fit for the challenge. He has been training at the National Boxing Stadium during the week when in Dublin and in the Raphoe Boxing Club in Donegal at the weekends.
30 men and women will compete in the competition and Niall said he is looking forward to taking part; “The training has been tough but it’s been great, and I’m really looking forward to getting in the ring on Friday. The rough and tumble of politics is never easy but it’s a far cry from the boxing ring. It’s all for a good cause though, and I am delighted to be taking part.”
