Blaney congratulates Letterkenny General Staff on Sexual Assault Unit Public Service Excellence Award
Local Fianna Fáil TD Niall Blaney has extended his sincere congratulations to the staff of Letterkenny General Hospital for the Public Service Excellence Award which they received from An Taoiseach Brian Cowen TD this week. 09/07/10The award ceremony was held in Dublin and showcased public service projects that are making a particularly innovative and significant contribution to their communities.
Sexual Assault Care, a project developed by staff in Letterkenny General Hospital, was one of six HSE projects to receive an award.
The project involved the work that went into establishing the right environment for the treatment of patients who have been raped or sexually assault at the Sexual Assault Unit in the hospital.
“I want to extend my sincerest congratulations to the staff at the sexual assault unit for the recognition they have received in the Taoiseach’s Public Service Excellence Awards.”
“The unit is a relatively new facility in the hospital and I did a lot of work to secure its establishment. Credit is due to the manager of the hospital Sean Murphy for prioritising the training of the staff when the unit was sanctioned. And of course full credit and congratulations is due too to the staff who operate the unit and who have been acknowledged at a nation level for the work they are doing,” concluded Niall Blaney TD.
